Search the World Wide Web

How do you know a Web page is authoritative?

  • What is it's extensiion?  .gov, .edu, .com?
  • Who sponsors the site?  Do they identify themselves?
  • Who wrote the content?  Does the author identify him or herself?
  • Does the content seem biased or neutral?
  • Is the content in depth or brief?  Reference list?
  • Is it up to date, or dated?

 

Google is a powerful search engine

Wikipedia is a large collaborative encyclopedia
