Affordable Learning Solutions: Textbooks

Use this guide for information to develop materials in response to the Affordable Learning Solutions Campaign

What Are Open Textbooks?

Open textbooks are typically authored by faculty and published on the web with the support of universities or new commercial companies. This new business model enables free online access to textbooks.

Resources for Textbooks

These links provide an overview of the types of projects and experiments as the textbook revolution progresses. The University Library does not promote or endorse any of these sites.

Linking to Library eBooks

Library ebooks are purchased by the library (and not available freely to the general public).  To provide CSU Stanislaus students access to these titles, links to individual ebooks must be routed via the library's server.

To link to a library ebook yourself:

  1. Find the ebook in the Library Catalog
  2. Right-click on the "Available Online" link
  3. Choose "copy shortcut" or "copy link location"
  4. Paste the URL in Blackboard

Upon request of the instructor, Library Reserves will add links to library materials in Blackboard.
